OUR STORY

The Origin.

Like many great beers, Cape Fear Brewing started small — with a simple idea to create something worth sharing.

It began on the coast of Wilmington, North Carolina. A place where the river meets the sea, and life moves at an easy, salt-air pace. Brewing started as a hands-on escape — a way to bring science, creativity, and lifestyle together.

On a front porch of an old Queen Anne home, batches were brewed while life passed by — locals, visitors, and friends drifting through on their way to the nearby bars and restaurants. Before long, that porch became its own kind of destination.

THE JOURNEY.

In 2019, the journey crossed oceans. New Zealand had already left its mark — a place of raw beauty, adventure, and a deep appreciation for craft. Bringing that influence together with Carolina roots became the next chapter.

Today, Cape Fear Brewing continues to evolve here — blending precision with creativity, and refining a core range inspired by both places.

THE RECIPES.

Early recipes were built to stand out — bold, expressive, and made for sharing.

A tropical double IPA quickly earned the nickname Rocket Fuel — big, punchy, and unforgettable. Then came a Raspberry Wheat, lighter and easy-drinking, becoming a go-to for long afternoons and house gatherings.

From the beginning, the focus was simple:

Create beers that bring people together and leave a lasting impression.

the vision.

Cape Fear takes its name from the river that runs through Wilmington — a place where land, water, and culture meet.

That same idea drives everything we create:

A meeting point of Carolina character and Kiwi chill.

Our beers are designed for moments — after the surf, around the table, or wherever the day takes you.

“Step Outside” is more than a tagline.

It’s about getting out there — into the elements, into new experiences, and outside your comfort zone. It’s about creating something meaningful, sharing it, and enjoying the ride along the way.

That spirit is in every beer we brew.
